Frigidaire Refrigerator Parts Diagram & Details

It is almost impossible to find a home in the modern world today without a refrigerator. A refrigerator helps keep foods cold so that they can last longer. This way, homeowners don’t have to finish all their food in one sitting or use extreme methods like drying to preserve foodstuff.

A modern-day refrigerator like the Frigidaire refrigerator is made of many parts that work together. Each part is essential and functions in making the entire system work. In this article, we will look at the parts diagram of a regular Frigidaire refrigerator and study all the essential parts to understand their function.

While this diagram represents most frigidaire refrigerators, there might be a few differences between this one and the model you own or want to buy.

Freezer Compartment

Freezers and refrigerators are different in one way: temperature. The refrigerant in freezers moves faster to maintain a low core temperature, so they can get food frozen faster. Refrigerators maintain a temperature that preserves food but doesn’t freeze them.

The freezer compartment in the refrigerator functions like a regular freezer. If you have foodstuff or drinks you want frozen, then you can put them here.

Ice Maker

There is also a compartment in the fridge that helps you make ice blocks for different purposes, like your drinks or ice packs. The ice maker is usually at the top left-hand corner of the fridge and comes with an ice bucket. The ice bucket is used to pack the already formed ice blocks.

Depending on the model, you can usually get around 2.5 to 3 pounds of ice from the ice maker every 24 hours.

Before using your ice maker, you need to connect it to a water supply. When you have filled the ice maker with water, put the bucket under the ice maker and turn the wire signal down. When you are done, turn the wire signal arm up to turn it off.

Freezer shelf

The freezer shelf is in the freezer compartment and is used to hold foodstuff or food you put in the compartment. The freezer compartment could be metal, plastic or tempered glass, depending on the design. The ones made with metal (like steel) are often coated with a polymer.

Auxiliary Freezer Control

The auxiliary freezer control contains buttons that control the temperature and light of the freezer compartment.

Deli drawer

Some models of the Frigidaire refrigerator contain a deli drawer, and you can find it just below the freezer. This drawer is often slightly colder than other parts of the refrigerator and helps store food like eggs, cheese, and cured meat.

Deli Drawer Cover: As the name implies, this is a piece of material used to cover the foods in the deli drawer.

Refrigerator control: The refrigerator control helps regulate the refrigerator’s lights and temperature.

Full-Width Deli: This is a bigger version of the deli drawer and is only available in some Frigidaire refrigerator models. They also have deli drawer covers to protect the foodstuff within them.

Crisper Drawers: The crisper drawers are often found at the bottommost part of the refrigerator. They have a different level of humidity from the other parts of the refrigerator and work to prolong the freshness of fruits and vegetables. If you have fruits or vegetables, this is the best place to keep them.

Fixed door bin: The fixed door bin is a piece of plastic on the side of the refrigerator and freezer doors, where you can keep some extra foodstuff. Some people put small quantities of vegetables like peppers in this bin.

Dairy door: You can find the dairy door on the side of the refrigerator. Its job is to shield the diary bin from damage.

Dairy bin: The diary bin stores dairy products like cheese on the side of the refrigerator. It’s not available in all Frigidaire refrigerator models.

Full Shelf: This is the part of the refrigerator where you store food and foodstuff. It can be made of metal or tempered glass.

Door Rack: You can find the door rack inside the refrigerator or freezer compartment doors. People typically store bottled drinks and milk cartons on this rack. The rack holds items and prevents them from falling.

Frigidaire Refrigerator Parts Diagram: Hidden Parts

Apart from these external parts of the refrigerator, there are other internal parts that make cooling possible with the help of a refrigerant. A refrigerant is a fluid with a low boiling point and can exist in two states: liquid and gas.

The internal parts take the refrigerant through different heating and cooling cycles to absorb heat from within the refrigerator and release that heat into the environment.

Internal Parts of the Frigidaire Refrigerator

  1. Compressor: The compressor is the device that increases the temperature and pressure of the refrigerant before sending it to the condenser.
  2. Condenser: The condenser cools the refrigerant to become a high-pressure but low-temperature fluid.
  3. Expansion device (Orifice): The orifice limits the flow of the refrigerant, reducing its pressure and increasing its temperature before sending it to the evaporator.
  4. Evaporator: The evaporator absorbs the heat from the refrigerant and cools it before sending it to the compressor again for the cycle to repeat itself.

At different points during this cycle, the refrigerant takes heat from the foods within the refrigerator, releases the heat into the environment, and cools the foods.
